20 Upcoming Horror Movies NOBODY Asked For
2. Faces of Death
Some horror franchises are perfectly OK being left for dead, and frankly, who in their right mind ever expected Faces of Death to get resurrected with its own meta-sequel?
The original 1978 film, which became infamous for containing a mixture of real and staged depictions of human death, seemed content to remain a salacious relic of its era.
But a new Faces of Death is on the way, which revolves around a moderator of a YouTube-esque platform (Barbie Ferreira) who discovers that someone appears to be re-enacting the murders from the original film - or are they?
Even though this new take is being co-written and directed by the talented Daniel Goldhaber (Cam, How to Blow Up a Pipeline), the glossy sheen of a studio-backed Faces of Death film will undeniably lack the grotty power of the original.
For anyone who watched the '78 movie back in the day, it truly felt like something we weren't supposed to be seeing, in large part due to it becoming a cult hit through dingy VHS copies. The new Faces of Death might be quite good, but it simply won't be able to capture that same forbidden, right-of-passage vibe, at which point you have to wonder - why call it Faces of Death at all?
