The Scary Movie franchise seemingly reached the end of its natural life with 2013's fifth film, which saw a massive box office decline amid the decreasing popularity of the spoof genre and, well, being absolutely terrible.

While for more than a decade it seemed like the instant availability of high-quality parody content on social media had basically made big-screen spoofs extinct, Scary Movie 6 was nevertheless announced in April 2024.

Though it's easy to be immensely skeptical about this one, and the first trailer didn't seem great, it evidently banked successfully on nostalgia, given that the trailer scored more than three million views in just two days.

With the film set to spoof some of the most culturally relevant horror pictures from the past decade, including M3GAN, Sinners, Smile, Weapons, Longlegs, The Substance, and Terrifier, the odds are looking good that the new Scary Movie will actually be a hit at the box office, especially with its budget likely being relatively low.

It wasn't too long ago that the prospect of Scary Movie roaring back to life seemed basically impossible, and yet here we are.
