10 2000s Albums That Are Practically Flawless

7. Stankonia - OutKast

The dawn of the new millennium felt more like a transitional time for hip hop than anything else. Although the bling era was still dominating the scene, the era of crunk hadn't started yet and the era of Biggie and Pac was firmly in the rearview. Just when it looked like the greatest MC was going to be Eminem, the South threw us one hell of a curve ball with Stankonia.

It's not like we didn't expect OutKast to not wow us though. Ever since Aquemini, Big Boi and Andre's chemistry was through the roof, which only skyrocketed further when they got into their own studio with the Goodie Mob crowd. Taking influence from every kind of music they can think of, this is the most forceful hip hop record in the group's catalog, from the pop hooks of So Fresh So Clean to Andre getting his inner rock star out on Gasoline Dreams.

Granted, this is probably the last time that Big Boi and Andre were on the same creative page, since the next few years would show them making solo records under the OutKast name and eventually tearing the group apart. For a few brief seconds though, it looked like this posse from Atlanta was going to become one of the most everlasting rap groups that was ever created.
