10 Albums By Famous Musicians That Were Scrapped Before Release
7. Weezer Songs From The Black Hole
Weezer have something of a storied history when it comes to their music. Loved for their earlier releases (specifically The Blue Album and Pinkerton) the band quickly began to experiment with a more commercial sound, and strayed away from their celebrated darker, heavier material. Over the years the band has polarised fans with releases like Beverley Hills and Island In The Sun, though the recent Everything Will Be Alright In The End and singles Thank God For Girls and Do You Wanna Get High? have fans slightly more optimistic about the band's future. What's slightly soul-crushing, however, is that somewhere out there is an unfinished, unreleased album from the band's heyday, intended as a follow-up to 1994's The Blue Album. Songs From The Black Hole was supposed to be a science-fiction rock opera meant as an expression of Rivers Cuomo's trepidation regarding musical success. Songs From The Black Hole was to contain six characters, and demos were recorded over Christmas 1994, with the band entering the studio early in 1995. Yet when Cuomo's enrolled in Harvard University later that year, he began to regard the material as too whimsical, and the album was reworked before being scrapped.
