Johnny Foreigner is another guitar pop band with a satisfying blend of male and female vocals. They set themselves apart thanks to their sheer exuberance and energy. The guitar work is dynamic and fast paced, and the vocals are equally as passionate, often reaching the point of shouting. Opening track Lea Room highlights this well, as by the end they're nearly screaming. The band's lyrics paint pictures of youthfully apathetic nights out, such as on the album's best track, Salt, Peppa and Spinderella. It's got a muted disco beat, matched with relatable, laidback and youthful lyrics ("We've got our friends in the city, what are you worried about?"). It sounds almost nostalgic and sweeps you away; it's unexpectedly relaxed, until at some point lead vocalist Alexei Berrow ends a spoken word bit with "Turn on the real drums.", and a barrage of distorted guitars and frantic drumming assault your ears, bringing you back up to pace.
