10 Awesome Supergroups We Never Got To See

1. The Dirty Mac

Every so often, the thought of a supergroup coming together to make beautiful music feels more like a distant fantasy than anything else. No matter how much you might think they would work well together, the idea of getting your favorite artists together to actually perform in one act just doesn't seem like it could work on paper. What's even more astonishing though is that the Dirty Mac did exist...for a couple of minutes.

While filming the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus, various music legends were all coming together to make this massive concert to the delight of rock fans around the world. Along with the amazing performance of a Quick One by the Who during the concert, the downtime also included the Dirty Mac, which had the stuff of legends in its lineup. With Keith Richards on bass, Mitch Mitchell from the Jimi Hendrix Experience on drums, and John Lennon on guitar and vocals, this makeshift band went through a handful of blues tunes before eventually bottoming out at the end of the festival.

Ever since then though, people have speculated what could have been had they decided to collaborate on a project, with Lennon already going his own way at the time with the Plastic Ono Band. Looking back on it now though, the Dirty Mac is going to always be an amazing project that will be left in the minds of fans rather than on the stage.
