10 Best Hard Rock Music Videos Of The 2010s
5. Lonely Boy – The Black Keys (2011)
Sometimes, keeping things simple really is the best approach.
You can keep your big budgets, super models and sports cars, just give us someone who can bust a move. Derrick T. Tuggle is the man we all have to thank for one of the most infectiously joyful moments in music video history.
The original concept for this video was a sprawling big budget endeavour, with an overly complex script and dozens of extras. But, the boys from The Black Keys weren't happy with the results. They did catch the eye of one particular background dancer, however. After the band requested the director just use this guy for the full video, the filmmakers scrapped the original concept and let the 3:16 clip of Tuggle dancing do all the heavy lifting.
No doubt you remember when this came out, it was an instant viral sensation. For whatever reason people just connected with this guy doing his thing on the dance floor. He channelled some John Travolta, there was a heavy dose of Carlton Banks thrown in, and he even exhibited an earlier version of The Floss before the Backpack Kid made it famous.
