This is the song that shows off the tender side to IDLES. It really hits different against the backing of the other songs and their energy. June opens with a church organ playing and quickly moves on to a solid bass drum beat with not much variance from it.
The song feels very personal and tells of a still-born child. It even features the flash fiction, often attributed to Stephen King, with the heartbreaking lyrics: "Baby Shoes, for sale, never worn." It’s haunting and induces tear every time. As Joe says through his lyrics - "dreams can be so cruel sometimes".
It’s a tough listen for any empathetic human and so out of keeping with their usual style that it HAS to go number 1.
