The catchy nature of the song has seen it being used in everything from the Scream films to Dumb and Dumber. The lyrics tell the tale of a mysterious figure hanging tempting the poor and the destitute with dreams and promises beyond their wildest imagination, only to have them become trapped in the figure's own mysterious machinations and plans. However, Cave paints this figure as being more than a dark conman, claiming that "he's a God, he's a man, he's a ghost, he's a guru".
