10 Best Rock Music Album Closers Of The 2010s

1. Walk - Foo Fighters (Wasting Light)

There's an argument to be made that 2011's Wasting Light is the Foo Fighters' best album.

Its songs are all top quality, the sequencing is spot on, and the band still felt like they had enough to prove to really put the effort in.

Bridge Burning, Rope, These Days, White Limo, these songs are all tremendous, but perhaps the best of the bunch is track 11 of 11, Walk.

Written by Dave Grohl as he was literally helping his daughter learn to walk, the song was originally destined for the group's previous album, Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. However, Grohl kept hold of it as he thought it would work better as an optimistic finale to his next record.

He was right.

Walk is a classic Foo Fighters song; the hook is immediately memorable, the lyrics are hopeful without being cheesy, and the band are so airtight that they sound like they've been playing together since the dawn of time.

This song became one of the biggest from Wasting Light and it's not hard to see why. The Foos didn't have to save this treat right until the end, but it's amazing that they did.
