10 Best Sequel Songs In Rock

8. Mother - John Lennon

It's been well-documented that John Lennon was certainly no angel during the Beatles' tenure. From his boiling anger he would exact towards his friends and bandmates to not being there for his wife and child when the Fabs got famous, there was a lot of things that probably should have been different in Lennon's world. However, we got a glimpse into just how broken Lennon had felt on his first solo album.

While we got a hint of John's past on Julia from the Beatles' White Album, Mother is where he really lets his domestic emotions show in full force. After spending months in primal therapy, this is the sound of Lennon laying out his fractured relationship with his parents. Long before the Beatles started, Lennon's father had run out on the family, with his mother choosing to have his auntie raise him instead of her. Even though Lennon doesn't mince words about his parents not being there for him, it's not about blame in this scenario.

No, this is a song about letting go of all those internal emotions, which goes to another level when John is heard screaming to his parents from beyond the grave. Lennon definitely could have done a better job handling his relationships, but this song alone showed that he at least had a better handle on himself and the people around him.
