10 Best Slash Guitar Solos You Haven't Heard

3. The Garden - Guns N Roses

It's no secret that the more well-known moments of the Use Your Illusion records come from the ballads. Even though songs like "Live and Let Die" still have traces of Guns' more raucous moments, the real stars of the show are songs like "November Rain," with Axl soaking up as much of that white-hot spotlight as he can. The time was right for extravagance, but "The Garden" is the perfect example of how to strike the balance right.

Instead of sounding like it could have been written by Elton John, "The Garden" still has that twisted nature that was present in every song off of Appetite for Destruction. As soon as we get passed a delightful passage from Alice Cooper, Slash rips into one of the most gargantuan solos he's ever written, as he makes one guitar sound like its preparing to get into an epic medieval battle.

Even with the tempo that's a bit slow for a GNR track, this solo ends up saving the day with one of the more impressive outings in Slash's post-Appetite Guns work. Yeah, it's a bit blown out of proportion in some ways, but if there's any member of Guns who can really justify going over-the-top, Slash is the one dude who makes it look natural.
