10 Best Supergroups In Hard Rock And Metal
4. Probot
Over the years, Dave Grohl has practically crafted a damn institution of hard rock under his own name. Compared to the rap sheets of most other artists, Grohl's pedigree has seen him work with Queens of the Stone Age, Tenacious D, and Paul McCartney while still being the mainstay of Foo Fighters and the former drummer of Nirvana. Even though he has enough talent on his own, he did have a supergroup by letting everyone come to him on Probot.
Being a departure from anything else the Foos had done, this side project of all metal tunes features practically a who's who of talent from all different stripes of the heavy spectrum. Although Dave always finds time to put in someone like Lemmy from Motorhead, each of these songs seems to have a different lineup of titans, with each of them going over incredibly well.
Just when you thought you've seen it all from Dave, he'll throw you a bit of a left hook across the track listing, from Cronos from Venom showing up on the opener Centuries of Sin to bringing it home with King Diamond's vicious shrieks on Sweet Dreams. Given the doofy Judas Priest knockoff cover, this is exactly the kind of edgy metallic fury that you'd want to hear blaring out of your old truck while driving down the highway.
