10 Breakout Indie-Rock Stars Of 2019's Summer Festival Season
3. Gerry Cinnamon
By far the most Scottish act on this list, Gerry Cinnamon's rise to the top has certainly been a long time coming. Equipped with nothing more than an acoustic guitar, loop pedal and harmonica, the Glaswegian manages to get audiences rocking with a sound that is simple yet irresistible.
Somehow transforming traditional folk music into sing-along indie bangers like Sometimes and new single Canter, what really sets him apart from most other indie acts is his singing with in his native Scottish accent, giving his music a uniquely authentic feel.
Starting off the year in great fashion by headlining a stage in Edinburgh's Hogmanay, he's gone from strength to strength through festivals sets in Community, Kendal Calling, Benicàssim and Glastonbury. So much so that he has just bagged an Association of Independent Music (AIM) award for Best Live Act, beating the likes of AJ Tracey and Frank Carter & The Rattlesnakes.
For the rest of 2019, he's set to support none other than Liam Gallagher in Australia among his own headline shows. With such backing from the Oasis legend, and teases of a long-awaited second album, Cinnamon is well on his way to becoming a household name.
