10 Classic Albums That NO ONE CARED ABOUT

3. The La's - The La's

Most fans of '90s rock have become more than acclimatised with the genre of Britpop. Just when things were starting to get a little too dour and depressing for most to stomach, the era of everyone from Suede to Oasis to Blur made the retro forms of rock music feel new and exciting again. For as much of a '90s trend as it seemed, what if Britpop had actually happened half a decade earlier, and did it better than any of the cool kids?

Across the La's debut record, you can hear the blueprint for what would become Britpop, with songs that were just as much informed by the traditional pop song structures as they were indebted the candified version of rock and roll from the '60s. I mean, a song like There She Goes is pretty much prestamped in 1965, as long as you decide to look past the fact that the song is obviously about drugs.

At the time though, fans were a bit few and far between, with most of the La's singles only surviving on the bits and pieces of airtime from college radio around the same time. The ones who did listen were paying attention though, with Noel Gallagher citing it as one of his favorite albums of all time. Even though this was the only record we got out of this incarnation of the band, it's still a welcome fit among the Stone Roses of the world.
