10 Classic Albums That NO ONE CARED ABOUT
2. Temple of the Dog - Temple of the Dog
Even in a year jam packed with classic material like 1991, the arrival of Temple of the Dog might be one of the greatest things to come out of that one glorious 12 months. Along with albums like Blood Sugar Sex Magik by the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Nirvana's Nevermind, this tribute to the late Andy Wood was sure to be the calling card for the alternative revolution, as much informed with raw nerves as it was with indelible riffs. You'd say that...if anyone even knew that this was a supergroup.
You have to remember that before this record came out, Pearl Jam wasn't even that much of a thing, with Hunger Strike being the first high profile song that Eddie Vedder ever sang on. But surely you had some street cred coming from the powerhouse Chris Cornell, right? Then again, no, not really.
As much as Soundgarden would become household name in the '90s, this was from a time where they were still an exclusively underground band native only to Seattle, with subtle flirtations with the charts here and there. After Ten came out along with Badmotorfinger, it was a prolonged game of catch up before fans eventually stumbled across this mammoth album towards the end of the decade. In a scene that was all about raw emotions, some of the hardest hitting albums can sometimes have the slowest rises.
