10 Great Hip Hop Albums With Only One Bad Song
2. Drunk And Hot Girls - Kanye West
It would be understandable for Kanye West to have done a victory lap after the release of Graduation. After taking part in one of the biggest beefs in rap music, the sales figures for his latest album blew 50 Cent's Curtis out of the water and made Ye one of the kings of the rap game. The experiment may have worked, but have you tried listening to this album lately?
Compared to the usual dated bling era rapping style, a lot of the collabs on here work really well, like the Coldplay feature Homecoming and drawing from Steely Dan on Champion. Right in the middle of the record though, Drunk and Hot Girls just seems like it shouldn't have happened from the very beginning, having some of the most hacky lines that Ye would ever write and sounding like it was half finished.
Though the Can sample was definitely a fresh new idea at the time, hearing Ye just spew his party style rhymes and patronizing his girl just makes it feel hollow. Whereas the rest of the album felt like a celebration of life, this is the point in the party where things start to go sideways and everything stops being fun. Whether in 2007 or in 2021, this is far from the proudest moment that Ye has in his arsenal.
