10 Greatest Ever Metallica Solos

8. Broken Beat & Scarred

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7eRiAnZt24 This is fairly short and sweet (for Metallica) at thirty seconds, but what a tremendous half minute it is! This is a real old school shred fest and wouldn't be out of place in a slayer song. It is comprised of fast, ascending runs over the quicker tempo and the slower sections have the dirtiest dive bombs, this side of Kerry King. Again, this suits the approach of the song and is all about aggression and attitude. Death Magnetic, as an album, features some of Kirk's more violent lead playing. Perhaps this was helped by the fact that on previous record, St Anger, he was benched from playing solos, so here he just went for it and tore up the fret board.

Live and work in Aberdeen, Scotland...unfortunately. Sang in My Minds Weapon (Basick/Drakkar/Sony) for ten years (2002 - 2012) and now just tinkering with various other projects. Die hard Leeds United fan. Metalhead in my heart but also love many other genres of music. Also enjoy anything with Christopher Walken or David Caruso. Family live in Perth, Australia, so have been there many times. Best place in the world.
