10 Greatest Final Rock Music Albums Of The 2000s

2. Hypnotize - System Of A Down

In 2005, professional lunatics System of a Down released two albums within six months of each other. Clearly, they're still recovering from this monumental feat, as they haven't released anything since.

Following the release of Mezmerize in May, SOAD put out Hypnotize in November, with both records hitting the number one spot in the US album charts.

Mezmerize is a classic, featuring songs like B.Y.O.B, Question!, and Radio/Video, but don't take this as an excuse to sleep on Hypnotize.

Featuring an anti-propaganda title track and the sublime Lonely Day, Hypnotize is the band at their best. Serj Tankian and Damon Malakian harmonise beautifully across the record, their silky smooth singing acting as a anchor as the music madness erupts around them.

Whilst Mezmerize might have gotten it slightly better in terms of the song split, its sister release still has enough quality to stand tall on its own.

Precisely why the band haven't released anything else in almost 20 years is a total mystery, as they've been back together since 2010. Hopefully when something new does come along, it'll have been worth the wait.
