10 Greatest Fleetwood Mac Albums

5. Tango In The Night (1987)

Fleetwood Mac
Warner Bros.

The fourteenth album in the Fleetwood Mac library and the latest to date to feature the fab five of Mick Fleetwood, Jon and Christine McVine, Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham, Tango in the Night was released in April 1987.

Though it might have marked the final time Buckingham would be a part of the band until 1997, Tango in the Night was much his project. Following the release of Mirage in 1982, all the members of the band (bar Jon McVine) had gone off and begun their own solo work and the very possibility of getting another Mac project off the ground fell almost exclusively on the shoulders of Buckingham.

And whilst the album might be known for the glossy pop hit tunes such as 'Little Lies', 'Everywhere' and 'Big Love', the monotonous grind of being in the studio really comes across for some of the band's members. Stevie Nicks, for example, reportedly could only stand to be in the recording studio again by downing shots of whiskey prior to singing, which left most of her demos completely unusable.

Though the work might have been the big pusher in driving him out of the band, Buckingham's work wasn't totally in vain as the album has remained the second highest selling in the group's entire history.
