10 Greatest Hair Metal Songs
6. Talk Dirty To Me - Poison
There are two camps in the hair metal world when it comes to Poison. Either people absolutely love them and will jump off a bridge if Bret Michaels told them to, or they were the moment that made them realize that the age of hairspray was getting way too out of hand. Even if they weren't the greatest players in the world, there was no one who was going to come up with a hook like Talk Dirty to Me.
Outside of the usual distorted guitar riffs, this is pretty much the textbook example of how to write a great hair metal song. Although most of the greatest songs in the genre go back to love (read as: sex), Bret Michaels cuts right to the chase here, not holding anything back about his lustful feelings towards his lover.
Also, the song also gets major points for actually introducing the guitar player before the solo kicks in, which brings the entire song to its climax. For as much as some people may have liked to play up their looks for the sake of the camera, these guys had so much charm they could practically have their own glam rock TV show. It's sleazy, and it might be more than a little off putting if you just read these lyrics aloud, but there's something about it that feels like magic in the studio.
