10 Hilarious Joke Songs By Rock Artists
9. Dominated Love Slave - Green Day
Every great rock and roll band is going to need some kind of wild man in their ranks. Since most of this industry feeds on the amount of charisma you have, it pays to have some zany character to work off of every time you do an interview. And while Tre Cool is definitely the clown in the Green Day camp, the hijinx don't end once the interview is over.
Before Green Day were even reaching the top of the charts, Tre was already getting his kicks out of the way on Kerplunk with Dominated Love Slave. From the first notes, you know that this song barely has any place being on a Green Day album, given the fact that the whole thing sounds like some weird distorted version of a campfire song. When Tre actually opens his mouth though, things go even more off the rails, singing about just how much he loves getting abused by his girlfriend, whether that be through S&M or actually getting staples driven into his flesh.
This track was also a ball whenever the band played it live, with Billie Joe Armstrong going behind the drumkit for a little while and Tre delivering guitar solos that were nothing more than just wringing as much noise and distortion out of the guitar as possible. The guy in this song is probably going to need to hit up the emergency room eventually, but as long as he's happy, is there really anything to complain about?
