Despite constant criticism for her attempts to be €œshocking€ and the regular criticism that comes with pop music and popular music in general, Lady Gaga is a talented musician who is often more savvy than people give her credit for. Nevertheless not everything that Gaga does lands, and often when she fails the result can be hilariously cringe-worthy for everybody. Never has this been more obvious than on the cover of her 2011 album Born This Way. At the time of its reveal, the album was arguably the most anticipated release of the year, as Gaga's first album had spun her massively into the limelight and created a huge amount of hype. In the end what fans were given was a depiction of Gaga fusing into a motorcycle, alongside a typeface so ugly that it looks like a default inclusion of Microsoft Word's Word Art feature. So what was the intention? According to Gaga herself:
"The vision is of me in an endless journey. I am a vehicle. I am a vehicle for all of the ideas. And I'm not riding away or towards anything, I'm just in endless state of creativity."
It's a nice idea, but the execution leaves a whole lot to be desired.
