3. Too Bad
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3E7_8FWqY9o The record with which Nickelback truly took the world by storm, 'Silver Side Up' was a strange one. Most bought the CD for one track alone (but we'll get to that), whereas the rock n' roll community just liked what the group were presenting overall. 'Too Bad' was initially a sleeper hit, but the video is burned into the psyche of an entire generation. The tale of a broken home, the song again has an autobiographical quality to it, similar to 'Photograph' and several other songs from the band's catalogue of hits. He may have a face which routinely crops up in those, 'Celebs We'd Like To Punch' lists, but Chad Kroeger sure knows how to pen lyrics. A story of abandonment, before rising up against the odds and prospering, only to be reflective of what may have been, 'Too Bad' is another of those old familiar choruses where everyone promptly loses their minds and forgets what the song is even about in the first place, but admit it, you know it off by heart.
