10 Less Appreciated Green Day Songs

2. Panic Song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fPN-vp-quOs Panic Song is another in the Green Day catalogue with lyrics also written by Mike Dirnt. The lyrics are inspired by the feelings he had dealing with panic attacks caused by being born with an enlarged valve in his heart. "There's a plague inside of me, eating at my disposition." Fittingly it kicks off with a fast bass intro, with the other instruments joining in as the song builds up. In a move unlike the Green Day of the time it's almost two minutes into the song before there are any vocals and the song settles in. It ends on the repeated lyric; "I wanna jump out," before fading into the next song, "Stuart and the Avenue." The album "Insomniac," never got the praise it deserved at the time, largely due to the quality of its predecessor "Dookie." Featuring other great songs like "Babs Uvula Who" and "Westbound Sign," it is a great album on reflection that is more than worthy of a listen.
