2. While She Sleeps
Despite frontman Loz Taylor’s throat surgery in 2013/14 threatening to derail the While She Sleeps train, 2015’s Brainwashed blew debut album This Is The Six out of the water, and we’re fully expecting album number three to carry on the tradition. Going fully DIY, the band have built their own studio and are releasing new LP You Are We through PledgeMusic.
Slated for release on April 21, WSS have already released tasters of new material with Civil Isolation and Hurricane, and so far it’s everything we want from the Sheffield bruisers. The thrashy, punked-up drums, the powerful guitar lines and the vocal trade-off between Loz and guitarist Mat Welsh being more prominent than ever adds another dimension to one of British metal’s brightest stars. Always refusing to bow to the scenecore bands, WSS should be cherished for still defending the faith and slaying hard.
