10 Most Hated Hard Rock Bands Of All Time
9. Bush
It was truly a great time to be in the center of the grunge explosion in the early 90's. It seemed like every group that came out of Seattle had their own distinct sound that all seemed to fit nicely under that swampy label of alternative rock. However, when that distinctive sound starting showing up elsewhere, OG fans began to take notice.
While Bush was not an awful band by any means, the amount of hate that was thrown their way in their prime all stemmed from their sonic similarities to Nirvana. Songs like "Glycerine" and "Comedown" seemed like they were ripped from a long-forgotten Cobain demo, while the guitars were just crunchy enough to give the track an edge. Frontman Gavin Rossdale's looks also gave off the impression of a manufactured product trying to ride the wave of grunge.
On the other hand, Bush certainly had their fair share of great tunes, with "Machinehead" finding constant airplay and even garnering praise from fellow alternative artists like Courtney Love. Though they made an impression at the outset, the contentiousness behind their sound left them with nothing to build upon going forward. Ultimately, Bush is a sad case of a band that were never given the time of day after starting off on the wrong foot.
