It almost seems comical when we thought of Chris Brown as an innocent new talent back in the mid '00s. Off the strength of songs like Run It!, this kid had the potential to give even the late Michael Jackson a run for his money, from his singing chops to the amazing dance skills he had in his music videos. And then it all came crashing down after the Rihanna incident.
Within days, the news of the domestic abuse incident between Chris Brown and Rihanna made him the villain of pop music for a little while. Adding insult to injury, it didn't even seem like Chris was all that broken up about the incident either, instead trying to bypass the situation rather than actual owning up to what he did. What makes it even more befuddling is the fact that so many people actually fell for it.
Ever since, Chris Brown has actually been able to crack the charts more than a few times still, one with a duet with Rihanna no less. The fact that this man can still manage to notch up more chart success without even showing an ounce of regret for what he did remains one of the most drastic pitfalls in modern pop music.
