10 Most Underrated Albums In Rock Music History
7. Amnesiac - Radiohead
At the dawn of the '00s, Radiohead had seemed to have done the impossible. Since they were already being heralded as the band that was going to bring rock and roll into the next generation, the line in the sand transition to Kid A ended up redefining what we thought about rock as a whole, with glitchy production that was absolutely mesmerizing. Turns out when you're on that kind of creative streak, even some of the leftovers can be the greatest in your career.
Though Radiohead maintains that Amnesiac is its own beast, this is the kind of thing that screams B-sides, especially considering these were written and recorded at the same sessions that produced Kid A. And while that leads to some songs like Pulk Pull Revolving Doors sounding unfinished, it would be a crime if some of these went unlistened, like the demented swing of Pyramid Song or the weird jazz funeral dirge of Life in a Glasshouse.
There are also bits and pieces of songs that we didn't even realize we needed to hear, like the riff of I Might Be Wrong bringing a dirtiness back into Radiohead's sound and the re-recording of Morning Bell sounding like you've just been lifted out of a dream. Though this is definitely not in the same realm as OK Computer (or In Rainbows for that matter), this is a good snapshot of where Radiohead were at the turn of the century.
