10 Most Underrated Classic Rock Albums
1. Sheer Heart Attack - Queen
For most of the 70's, the rock world was ruled with an iron fist by Queen. Once the band got the rock juggernaut "Bohemian Rhapsody" under their belt, the coming years were a virtual hit parade, with every single album becoming hits across the board. But what if I told you the magic of Queen's glory years started before their magnum opus was even made?
Just a few years prior to their chart busting album A Night At the Opera, the band's third release Sheer Heart Attack is the first time the band truly refined their varied sonic approach. From the echoed guitars to the impeccable vocal harmonies, almost every song on this album is a banger, with Freddie Mercury grabbing a firm hold on his star power. Though the album is known just for "Killer Queen" these days, the rest of the album is fantastic, with typical rock numbers like "Brighton Rock" and "Now I'm Here" being juxtaposed with ragtime tangents like "Bring Back That Leroy Brown" and the protometal "Stone Cold Crazy."
Complete with two separate songs called "In the Lap of the Gods," only Queen could get away with two of the same song titles and make both tracks kick ass. A Night at the Opera is definitely the best release in Queen's catalog, but the amount of kickass present on this record doesn't deserve to be ignored.
