10 Most Underrated Oasis Songs
6. Going Nowhere - The Masterplan
Like it was said at the outset, Oasis never skimped out when recording their B-sides. Since these are the songs that are meant to be throwaways, there are practically as many songs on the flipside of singles that deserve to be celebrated as much as the actual song they were promoting. Even when things were taking a dip during the Be Here Now period, Noel had a few more gems left over like Going Nowhere.
When you break down the lyrics though, there's a lot more nostalgia tangled up in this song. Considering this is being sung by a man who had reached legendary rock god status in the world fairly recently, hearing him talk about what happens when he gets famous is sort of surreal to hear him say. Maybe he didn't release this on an A-side because he couldn't sell the loner character properly, but Mr. Gallagher gets your sympathy nonetheless.
As he starts to dream big about getting a motor car and soaking up his fame for all its worth, there's a lot more yearning in his voice to endear him to the listener. It's almost like you're right there next to this guy on a train, as he stares at the window and dreams of any means of escape. It may seem far off at the moment, but speaking from the future, Noel, you managed to get there.
