10 Musicians Who Died On Stage
5. Johnny "Guitar" Watson
The personal life of this artist was certainly a bumpy road, as he went from soaring highs to crushing lows. This blues/funk/soul musician found plenty of success thanks to his flashy and charismatic playing style but found himself caught up in some awful setbacks, such as the shooting of his friend Larry Williams.
However, in the end, he managed to work past such issues and became an instrumental figure in the industry, even receiving a Pioneer Award from the Rhythm and Blues Foundation. But, all good careers must come to an end, and for Watson, it happened whilst he was touring the world.
At the ripe age of 61, Watson was performing in Yokohama, Japan, when he suffered a heart attack. He collapsed on stage and died almost immediately, having his body brought back to the United States on one last trip before burial.
It's safe to say that dying away from your home isn't the most pleasant thought, but shuffling this mortal coil whilst on a world tour is just what you'd expect from a star as bright as this one.
