10 Musicians Who Have Joined Multiple Bands

5. Joshua Homme

When starting out in the California desert, Joshua Homme always understood the importance of evolution as an artist. Homme's first foray into music with the band Kyuss was incredibly original with its distinctive low notes and growling guitar tones that came to define stoner rock.

Homme's run in Kyuss quickly garnered the attention of the hard rock elite, with everyone from Dave Grohl to even Metallica becoming fans. As the sounds of stoner rock became too homogeneous for Homme's taste, he dissolved Kyuss to focus on an ever-evolving musical project, which eventually morphed into Queens of the Stone Age.

With all the members shifting across the band's discography, Queens of the Stone Age could be known as multiple bands unto itself, with everyone from Elton John, Dave Grohl, Mark Lanegan, and Nick Oliveri all contributing to the band's work at one point or another.

When not playing with Queens, Homme also found time to get his friend Jesse Hughes's project off the ground as he drums for the Eagles of Death Metal. Even when in a producer's role, Homme's work with everyone from the Arctic Monkeys to Lady Gaga to Iggy Pop has been filled with his signature hard-edged seductiveness. From humble beginnings to hard rock titans, Joshua Homme has made a name for himself as hard rock's Swiss-Army knife.
