10 Often Forgotten Nu Metal Bands

7. (hed) pe

(hed) pe are a bit of an odd one, and not just for their name choice.

They broke into the scene earlier than most in 1994, but it's arguably 2000's Broke that helped them rise through the ranks. Despite some lyrics containing thinly veiled misogyny and hedonism, the catchy beats in Bartender and Killing Time brought the band moderate success.

A collaboration with Morgan Lander of Kittie and Serj Tankian of SOAD bolstered their popularity too.

It was only after next album, Blackout, was catered to be more "radio friendly" that (hed) went independent. And unless you're a juggalo, you'd be rolling your eyes at most of their output in those years.

Unshackled from censors, the next few offerings were just too vulgar and OTT, which doesn't really endear to the radio stations that would broaden their appeal.

Yet in a remarkable turnaround, 2009 saw a remarkable shift in content. Toning down the whole tinhat, conspiracy theory lyrics a tad, (hed) pe produced four relatively strong albums.

Then they ruined it with the awful, trap-electronica nonsense that was Stampede last year.

Can't win them all, eh?
