10 Perfect 1970s Rock Albums With No Bad Songs
6. Rocks - Aerosmith
The '70s were the perfect time for the boom in American rock and roll. Since the '60s belonged to the British Invasion at the time, it was about time that their brethren from across the pond responded in kind with an invasion of their own. Though rock came in all shapes and sizes, Aerosmith always managed to find their way back to the blues.
For the Aerosmith enthusiast, you might be thinking that Toys in the Attic should take this spot. Outside of their experimentation on that record though, Rocks feels more like the album that shows the peak of their powers. These weren't just kids looking to figure things out anymore, but a set of bonafied rock stars that were about to unleash hell. And they sure to deliver across every song, with Back in the Saddle stomping the door down before getting their swing on in Last Child.
If you were to be honest though, the singles from this album might just be underselling it, with the best songs being reserved for the deep cuts like the Rolling Stones-go-punk fury of Rats in the Cellar or the precursor to heavy metal music on the song Nobody's Fault. Whereas Toys in the Attic was the proof of concept, Rocks was when Aerosmith found some darkness hiding underneath the surface.
