10 Perfect Albums Ruined By One Song
3. My World - Guns N Roses
Not every band has to grow up a lot in between albums. It sometimes takes the best bands time to gradually grow up until they eventually make some of the greatest albums they will ever create. Then again, if you grow up too quickly within the span of one album, there are definitely going to be some growing pains in the track listing.
As far as the Guns N Roses' Illusion albums go though, this is the right kind of bloat, with both albums packed to the gills with amazing tracks like November Rain and You Could Be Mine. Even the songs where you would question their judgement end up going over pretty well, like when Axl Rose calls out journalists on Get in the Ring or the country tinged sounds of something like You Ain't the First. But for the love of God, who asked Axl to go industrial?
Right as Illusion 2 winds down, we get 2 minutes of Axl, high off his ass on magic mushrooms, sounding like a high school bully as he makes open threats towards the listener. Considering the song before this was another version of Don't Cry, this pulls you out of the album's flow so hard that you might want to check for whiplash. As rough as some double albums can be, this is a great bunch of songs, with one turd in the punchbowl.
