1. Rain Man: Encore (2004)
As well as all the struggles revolving around Eminem's relationship with various family members, he's also been fairly vocal about his struggles with addiction. He's been shackled with a dependency on prescription drugs at various points in his career, but during the filming of 8 Mile (2002) things really started to take off. Prolonged shooting days led to Slim developing insomnia, which he treated with Ambien. By the time it came to recording Encore (2004) he'd developed a full blown habit.
It's no coincidence that this period harboured some of his most absurd lyrics, something Em commented on back in 2011 to Rolling Stone, stating "Around the tail end of Encore, the songs started getting really goofy. – that’s when the wheels were coming off. Every day I had a pocketful of pills, and I would just go into the studio and goof off."
Tracks like "Big Weenie", "Ass Like That" and of course "Rain Man" exhibited the rapper at his most unhinged. Goofy isn't strong enough a word to describe the way Em comes across in the latter track, but damn is his wild stream of consciousness enthralling.
