10 Perfect Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

5. The Joshua Tree - U2

Despite what we know now, it seems that the world took a hot minute to actually warm up to U2. Although their unique brand of post punk and arena ready rock had been solidified since their debut, the world wasn't ready to come around to them until we got to hear smashes like Pride and New Year's Day. Once we hit the end of the '80s, these Irish lads entered the land of musical gods on the Joshua Tree.

Just from the opening black and white cover art, this was a far cry from the neon colored tapestries happening around the rock scene, with songs that felt like you were stepping into the future whenever you put them on. Although tracks like Bullet the Blue Sky and In God's Country might be more respected as deep cuts than something like With Or Without You, they're still worthy to be called any other bands' greatest achievement.

You also have to give a little bit of credit to Daniel Lanois, who basically acted as the fifth member of the band, working with the Edge to create the distinctive delayed guitar sound that would become the sound of the '80s going forward. As preachy as they may have gotten later down the line, after one listen to the Joshua Tree, you knew that you would never look at rock and roll the same way again.
