10 Perfect Rock Songs That Divided Rock Bands

7. Misery Business - Paramore

Artists hating their own songs has always been a thing. It doesn't take a super genius of the rock world to know that people take things out of context and start seeing these songs in an entirely different way to how the songwriter originally intended it. There's nothing you can do about it...but then again, Paramore found a way to deal with it.

After years of playing the song live, Hayley Williams was getting more and more uncomfortable about singing the song Misery Business live. Although the song may have hit home with any girl who had been cheated on before, the idea of calling her romantic adversary nothing more than a wh*re wasn't sitting well with her after all these years. No one was expecting what happened next though, with Hayley announcing that Paramore would no longer be performing the song out of principle.

Keep in mind, this wasn't a deep cut either. Arguably, this is the song that took the band to the top of the charts back in the day and won them a bunch of their fans. The group stood by their decision though, and the fanbase actually responded in kind, with no one really complaining to have some of the more problematic parts of the song no longer being performed. There may come a day when Misery Business finds its way back into the setlist, but it takes guts to actually stand by your decision like this.
