10 Perfect Rock Songs That Musicians Hate

9. Stairway to Heaven - Led Zeppelin

Any band who has a legendary song is going to end up getting tired of it sooner or later. Even though you might see it as your baby, hearing the same song night after night is a quick way for you to never want to play the song again as long as you live. It happens to the best of us...but no one has ever come back around on a song quite like Robert Plant.

Ever since leaving Led Zeppelin, Plant has always hated the song Stairway to Heaven, thinking that he would rather break out into hives than to actually have to play the song again. That's not to say that he thinks that it's a bad recording by any stretch of the imagination. When talking about the song itself, Plant has always been complimentary to the arrangement, even marveling that the lyrics that he wrote seemed to fall out of the sky in some form or another.

While this does stand out as Zeppelin's most defining work, this is one instance where the band is split down the middle as well, with Jimmy Page calling it the very peak of what the band were capable of at the time. But who knows? Given all of the hype surrounding a possible Zeppelin reunion, chances are it's never going to happen if this song is in the setlist.
