10 Perfect Songs On Terrible Albums
1. Under Pressure - Queen
Of all the bands that were legends in the '70s, Queen's sound was almost too perfect for the MTV generation. Given Freddie Mercury's ability to hold every single crowd in the palm of his hand, seeing them go pop on their album The Game felt like the next logical step for them, with Another One Bites the Dust turning them into superstars all over again. That kind of sound worked for one song though, and having an entire album of that seemed to get old a little too quickly.
Out of all the mainline Queen albums, even some of the band members aren't all that kind to Hot Space, seeing it as them just cashing in on the kind of trends that were coming out in the wake of artists like Michael Jackson. Most of this record would have probably gone by completely unnoticed, if it weren't for the one diamond of a final track with Under Pressure.
Compared to the rest of the album, Queen's classic collaboration with David Bowie is one of the more perfect rock songs to come out of the '80s, with both icons playing off each other's strengths and making one of the greatest feel good rock songs of all time. Looking at the rest of the tracks that came before it, this song sticks out like a sore thumb in the greatest way possible. It's completely unnecessary and it has no business being on this album, but when you have something that's this good, you can't just pass it up.
