Simply being a Libertines fan seems to strike fear into the hearts of some people, especially those who only know them as "that band Pete Doherty was in". The typical stereotype of the band's fanbase seems to be a pack of heroin-addicted, hedonistic wastrels, always itching to smash up a venue or set a bus stop on fire. This overlooks the key fact that people are attracted to the band because of a variety of reasons, rather than simply their controversial past behaviour. Many love the whole 'Albion' mythology preached by the band, while many simply enjoy quality rock music. Regardless of this, Libertines fans are a far more diverse and (generally) good-natured bunch than they're given credit for.
