The Beatles merch rolls on as some of the most expensive ever. Whether it’s the roll of toilet paper from Abbey Road studios that went for £80 to a keen Beatles fan (who later commented how he turned down an £1000 offer from a Japanese collector for a single sheet) or one of John Lennon’s castaway teeth bought by a Canadian dentist in the hopes of one day cloning him, Beatles aficionados are frenzied in buying anything they can afford and get their hands on.

This is one if not the rarest band t-shirt in existence, with a $20,000 eBay asking price. Why this Beatles tee? It’s a promotional t-shirt for the Beatles controversial ‘Yesterday and Today’ cover that features shocking scenes of John, Paul, George and Ringo dressed in bloody butcher coats with raw meat and baby doll parts surrounding them. It was meant to be a statement on their feelings against war, centrally the Vietnam War. Obviously this message was lost on the public/mainstream who just saw the four moptops smiling away covered in blood.

After 1 day of being on sale, Capital Records recalled the records and merch, making this the most controversial and rare and sought-after t-shirt in music.
