10 Rarest Band T-Shirts Of All Time
7. Woodstock – $5225
Attended by over 400,000 people, Woodstock has gone down in the history books as the most legendary music festival ever to take place. Held on a farm in New York between 15-18 August 1969, it showcased performances from Jimi Hendrix, The Who and The Grateful Dead to name a few, in the midst of a cultural revolution.
What’s noteworthy about the festival, especially in comparison to today’s festivals, is that it was an enormous lost opportunity in hindsight to make money in merchandise. Woodstock had no official merch whatsoever for those wanting to commemorate the event with a t-shirt or poster.
However, Warner Bros. were on hand and had exclusive filming rights for a documentary on the monumental weekend that would be released a year later. And Warner Bros., not Woodstock, released a vest as a promotional tool for the film/festival. It featured a yellow bird perched on a guitar neck against a turquoise background with the words ‘Music. Love. Peace.’ below it.
If you have a spare $5225 then this piece of music memorabilia could be yours as that’s what it’s going for online. Don’t be surprised if one of the Kardashians snaps it up, though.
