10 Rock Bands That Had More Than One Lead Singer
6. Queen
It's almost comical thinking of Queen without Freddie Mercury up front. Even though there may have been competent singers alongside Mercury, who really needs them when you have one of the greatest frontmen in rock history right there at your disposal? However, the rest of the band members' voices are much more integral to the sound of Queen than most fans realize.
There's no disputing that Freddie has the most powerful voice out of them all, but the real character comes in with Roger Taylor. Across nearly all of the group's records, Taylor has at least one song where he belts out a more bluesy vocal, along with providing nearly all of the high harmonies to carry Freddie's melodies. Though Brian May's voice simply can't compete with his colleagues, his contributions to Queen from a vocal perspective brings a humanity to the band, be it on '39 or the breakdown of I Want It All.
Each of these men work so well on their own, but the way they constructed their vocals to symphonic perfection across every one of their albums set the bar for what was expected out of a professional pop singer. Unless you're one of like... the three people who haven't heard of this band, you're pretty safe no matter which member steps up to the front.
