10 Rock Bands That Kept The Same Lineup

1. U2

When bands have been in the game for a while, it's easy to get their habits down to a certain niche. Unless you're someone like Neil Young or David Bowie who switch things up from one record to the next, having a full band behind you means settling on grooves that make sense over the years. Out of all the legends that have come down the pipeline, U2 have still at least kept us guessing no matter where they are.

Granted, it's not like every decision is great; after all, Bono has enough pretentiousness for about 5 rock bands combined. When you peel back the layers of sound though, this entire collective of Irish blood is integral to the sound, starting with the Edge's amazing guitar effects, which have been copied poorly but never fully replicated by anyone.

As much as the distinctive elements might end there, the rhythm section of U2 are still a sight to behold, with Larry Mullen Jr. having a clear understanding of grooves that are both tight and forceful, all while Adam Clayton's bass acts as a steady pulse on every song. While the idea of U2 normally comes down to Bono being a bit on the grandiose side, if you took any one element out of the band, everything will come tumbling down.
