10 Rock Bands That Never Made The Same Album Twice
4. Radiohead
Anyone who was remotely familiar with alternative rock in the '90s would have wagered a guess that Radiohead weren't going to be seeing much success past '93. Though the song Creep was fairly decent on the charts, this was a kind of magic that was only going to exist for a few years before tapering off. Radiohead noticed that too though, and used the rest of their career to get even more weird.
Quickly growing up with moodier songs on the Bends, these English weirdos managed to make one of the greatest albums of the decade with OK Computer, shattering their one hit wonderdom and coming through with a thoughtful take on the rise of technology. That only ended up being a sendoff for their later sound though, with Kid A and Amnesiac trying to marry the rock and roll mentality with synthetic elements and keyboards.
While some of these experiments don't always hit as well as others like the King of Limbs, the '00s have proved to be the most exciting time to be a fan, with In Rainbows being one of the most straightforward blends of art rock sounds that they have ever made. Even A Moon Shaped Pool gave us a little more to digest, with songs that were a lot more downtempo and emotionally gripping than before. Not bad for a bunch of guys who started their career getting pigeonholed.
