10 Rock Music Collaborations No One Could Have Predicted

7. Slash & Fergie

Following the dissolution of popular hard rock supergroup Velvet Revolver, people got very excited over the news that enigmatic axeman Slash had began work on a solo album. The former Guns n' Roses guitarist had previously led his side project Slash's Snakepit, but this would be the first time he would lead the songwriting charge.

The album saw a who's who of top-level performers including M. Shadows of Avenged Sevenfold, Chris Cornell of Audioslave/Soundgarden, Lemmy of Motörhead to name a few, but none were more striking than the track "Beautiful Dangerous" which featured Black Eyed Peas vocalist, Fergie.

Fergie was invited to take part in the recording after Slash had her perform a cover of iconic Heart hit "Barracuda". Slash was said to be blown away by the performance, and even asked her to join him in playing the song (as well as "Sweet Child o' Mine") at a live show.

Slash, along with fans and critics, praised Fergie's display, seemingly being far more suited to rock music than pop. Slash would even say "She’s one of the most phenomenal f*cking rock ‘n’ roll singers, male or female, I’ve ever heard."
