10 Rock Songs Ripped Off From Other Songs

2. The Lemon Song - Led Zeppelin

You could practically make an entire list of rip offs stemming from Led Zeppelin directly. Despite them being one of the greatest rock bands to ever walk the Earth, the amount of times Jimmy Page and co. got caught cribbing from their favorite artists is almost too lengthy to detail in a meager Internet list like this. If you're going to copy though, you can't just give the song a different name and pretend it's different.

Because if yall dont know, the Lemon Song is not a Led Zeppelin original. Although they had been known to do cover versions of blues standards in the past, this is a reworking of the old blues song Killing Floor, which was first made popular by Howlin Wolf. Looking back on this now, it's almost cheeky that these guys thought they could just change the name of the song and put their own spin on it and it would suddenly become their own thing.

Much like Willie Dixon had done with Whole Lotta Love, Howlin Wolf put Zeppelin on trial and eventually got a co-writing credit on the tune alongside Page and Plant. It doesn't look like Robert Plant harbors any ill will here though. The blues has always been about building off of standards, so this is just how Zeppelin had to deal with their own rendition.
