10 Rock Stars Who Didn't Like Their Most Famous Songs

3. Robert Plant- Stairway To Heaven

"Stairway to Heaven" is undisputably one of the most legendary songs in rock history. From its delicate acoustic passage to the rip-roaring guitar solo from Jimmy Page, the song has gone from being an epic rock tale to an integral part of rock music's DNA. However, one key part of the tune is Robert Plant, who had problems with the song from the very beginning.

On one hand, Plant does consider it a magical feat of music, even going so far as to say he was being possessed by some otherworldly force to transpose his lyrics. On the other hand, the marriage between music and lyrics came together in such an awkward manner that Plant considered not even singing the tune. Eventually, the take that would make rock history came about after many joke takes of the band performing the song in a slightly reggae style.

To this day, Plant still finds his vocal and lyrical performance on the song to be somewhat abysmal. Though he has distanced himself from his namesake band with an impressive solo career, Plant still feels that the vocal takes away from the beautiful composition of his fellow bandmates. While Plant may look with skepticism on this track, most fans are more than happy that he gave the rock world a true classic.
